Communication Major Media and Popular Culture Studies Sequence

The Media and Popular Culture Studies concentration explores the history, theory, analysis and rhetoric of everything from reality T.V. and blockbuster films to hip-hop culture and consumerism, examining how our day-to-day lives are informed and constructed by cultural trends and products. The concentration focuses on critical thinking, research, and communication skills whether oral, written or mediated (radio, video, or internet). Students will gain a broad and flexible background appropriate for attending graduate school, for teaching, and for writing about or creating media content.
